Searching for America's Reality

What is America? Really...

What comes to your mind when you ask that question? What is truly American? I invite you to go deeper than one word answers. What do we take for granted as reality that is really our construct of what this country is or should be?

If you are like me, you may not even realize your subconscious thoughts about what defines this country and in part it's citizens, by asking these questions.

Tonight watching the Rachel Maddow Show, I had a glimpse into the subconscious of America, thanks to the brilliant words of Naomi Klein.

The contradictions that Naomi speaks of regarding the public financing of the bailout and who this situation is most profoundly helping, has left me with a lot of questions.  I find myself deeply questioning how it is that I was so easily talked into the bailout. What is the perceptions or assumptions that we make as Americans about the intersection between public good and individual responsibility. How do we view the roles of government and the free markets?

I understand that money can buy influence in Washington.  But who was buying me? Why was I so willing to agree to this paradigm, without questioning the reality that was being laid out for me.
